Battle of Brothers

O Lore de League of Legends fala-nos de dois irmãos que viveram num vasto e sábio império do deserto. Por loucura ou raiva, Renekton, o Carniceiro das Areias, desafiou o seu irmão Nasus, o Curador das Areias. Renekton foi por fim vencido mas Nasus, invocado para o League of Legends, decidiu poupar-lhe a vida. Renekton fez aí uma promessa de vingança. E Nasus sabe que o irmão pretende cumpri-la.

The League of Legends Lore tells us of two brothers who lived in a vast and learned desert empire. By madness or rage, Renekton, the Butcher of the Sands, challenged his brother Nasus, the Curator of the Sands. Renekton was ultimately beaten but Nasus, invoked to League of Legends, decided to spare his life. Renekton made then a promise of revenge. And Nasus knows that his brother intends to fulfil it.

Produzido numa forma pouco convencional, explorando a animação em baixo relevo ao limite e criando um Universo sem paralelo, Troshinsky traduz uma estória sobre "estar perdido" para um filme encantador e cheio de beleza e curiosidade. Uma surpresa cheia de estupendos e fantásticos pormenores que tive todo o prazer em encontrar.

Astigmatismo is without a doubt an ambicious project. Produced in an unconventional fashion, exploring low relief animation to its limit and creating an unparallel Universe, Troshinky translates a story about "being lost" to an enchanting film filled with beauty and curiosity. Adoro quando se alia animação de volumes com cenários reais. Ver uma personagem que para todos os efeitos é real mas inanimada ganhar vida faz-nos realmente acreditar no fantástico, nas infinitas possibilidades da nossa imaginação. Bem divertido este pequeno vídeo. :)

I just love when you mix up stop motion with real sets. To see a character that by all means is real but inanimate come to life truly makes us belive in something fantastic, in the infinite possibilities of our imagination. This little short is alot of fun. :)

No ano passado este estúdio Italiano deu-nos a conhecer estas divertidas personagens numa pequena curta metragem (The Box - Poltergeist) que fez a delicia de que as viu online ou nos muitos festivais em que esteve presente pelo mundo fora. Neste novo episódio temos mais acção, mais personagens, mais gargalhadas, mais ordinarices e mais maluquices Dadomani. Já o disse no passado e volto a dizer novamente, gosto mesmo deste estúdio e dos seus variados projectos.

Last year this Italian studio introduced these very funny characters in a little short (The Box - Poltergeist) film that entertained those who saw it either online or on the many festivals it was showcased around the world. In this new episode we have more action, more characters, more laughter, more kinkyness and more Dadomani craziness. I have said it in the past and will say it again, i really like this studio and its various projects.

Dois anos mais tarde podemos ver o seu trabalho numa produção nacional intitulada "Passeio de Domingo" realizado por José Miguel Ribeiro. 

A personal project with an outstanding result, here the director/animator looks to explore this recipe to the maximum developing this brilliant technical exercise. Two years later we can see his work in a Portuguese production entitled "Sunday Drive" by director José Miguel Ribeiro.

Rodeada de exemplos repletos de amor, Sandy, decide criar uma escultura de areia que se assemelha à imagem dos seus sonhos. Uma bela e divertida história com uma mensagem positiva sobre escolha pessoal e acima de tudo amor. 

Sandy tells the story of a little character that, on a fine beach day, explores his/hers sexual orientation. Surrounded by examples filled with love, Sandy, decides to create a sand sculpture that resembles the image of his/hers dreams. A beautifull and fun story with a strong positive message regarding personal choice and above all love.

Its not very usual to find shorts as autobiographical  as this one. Here we have a glimpse of the story behind the directors name in such an enchanting fashion that leads us to find his family's path and some of its difficulties and hapiness. Such a beautifull work.

Hoje apresento aqui duas pequenas curtas que me dizem muito. Ambas retratam de uma forma muito bela características presentes na natureza humana, o medo e a curiosidade. Vindas de um imaginário muito próprio, Joseph Wallace, demonstra aqui que não tem medo de explorar técnicas, estilos ou materiais e, creio que é seguro dizer que, estamos todos muito curiosos para saber o que mais sairá de sua mente num projecto futuro.

Today i bring you two short films that say alot to me. Both portrait in a beautifull fashion characteristics present in human nature, fear and curiosity. Coming from a very personal imaginarium, Joseph Wallace, shows us that he is not afraid of exploring diferent techniques, styles or materials and, im pretty sure its safe to say, we are all very curious to know what will come out of is mind in future projects.

Mais uma produção independente feita em Portugal com muito bom gosto e preocupação a nível de animação e estética. Alexandre Franco, o realizador, animador e produtor, embarcou sozinho no seu primeiro projecto animado. Como disse ao Stop Motion Portugal em relação ao seu trabalho e produtora, a Talking Peanut Productions...

"Bem para começar e como já deve ter percebido, sou apenas uma pessoa, chamo-me Alexandre Franco e tenho 19 anos. Não sou animador nem nunca tive uma grande inclinação em fazer animação, não por não gostar (alguns dos meus filmes preferidos são de animação), gosto de praticamente todos os géneros e métodos de criar filmes e transmitir estórias.

Só mergulhei na animação pelo facto de puder fazer um filme sozinho, devido à ausência de conhecidos e amigos interessados em cinema na altura. Portanto tive que aprender a técnica de stop motion à medida que ia indo, e ia indo à medida que ia aprendendo. Devo continuar a fazer trabalhos em animação e já estou a trabalhar numa curta mas trabalhos futuros serão com certeza maioritariamente "live-action"."

Creio que o Alexandre está de parabéns por ter conseguido passar esta sua "ideia" para uma curta tão bela. Não acham?

Another great independant production made in Portugal with good taste and concern towards its animation and esthetics. Alexandre Franco, the director, animator and producer,  embarqued by himself in is first animated project. As he said to the Stop Motion Portugal Blog about is work and is "production company" Talking Peanut Productions...

"Well to start and as you should have figured out, its just me, my name is Alexandre Franco and im 19 years old. Im not an animator nor did i ever have much will to do animation, not that i dont like it (some of my favorite films are animated), i like all genres and methods of creating films and tell stories.

I just took a "dive" in animation because of the fact that i could do this by myself, since there was a lack of friends and acquaintances interested in cinema at the time. So i had to learn the Stop Motion technique as i would go along, and i would go along as i was learning. I will continue doing animated works and im already working on a new short but future productions will be mainly live-action."

I belive congratulations are in order for having accomplished turning his "Ideia" into something as beautifull as this. Dont you think?
